Experience

October 2021- Present, Youth Mural Project Instructor

•        Working with the Harwood Art Center at local middle schools to introduce muralism as a way of exploring identity, social issues, community, and culture. Students learn how to use acrylic paints in a large-scale work and engage in team-based artistic design.

August 2021- Present, Art Studio Assistant at ArtStreet

•        Maintaining an efficient and welcoming art studio space for Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless. Facilitating a healing and safe art-making, creating workshops, and curating member artwork for shows. Facilitating community outreach such as harm reduction and distributing art kits. Implementing art-as-therapy initiatives.

May 2021- August 2021, Apprenticeship for Art & Social Justice

•        Worked with the Harwood Art Center to construct a community-informed sculpture at Mesa Verde park in the International District. Her focus was on the lighting and audio elements of the sculpture along side collective efforts in community building, social justice education, and project design.

January 2020- May 2020, International Travel

•        Visited Puerto Rico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile.

May 2017-June 2017, Painting Apprenticeship in Mexico 

•        Studied under locally renowned artist, Kimberly Jay while visiting Guaymas. Worked with acrylics, oils, and projectors.

June 2015-August 2015, Volunteer with Amigos de las Americas

•        Worked with Plan International, an organization focused on child development and community health. The objective was to implement community projects with an emphasis in art highlighting individual children’s rights and health.  Lived with a host family in a very rural community in the mountains of Madriz, Nicaragua. Helped create a mural with community members as the last project.

August 2014, Co-founded ARTichokes, a youth art collective

•        Lead by Rio Rancho High School art teacher, Matthew Lutz, ARTichokes was founded to continue collective art projects for students to involve themselves in the arts and the community

December 2013- June 2014, Vans Custom Culture Contest  Lead Painter

•        Selected and lead team of artistic individuals in designing four sets of shoes, executing cultural and experiential concepts artistically, and marketing the portfolio of shoes during a voting phase. Team won a trip to New York City and first place prize of $50,000 which was distributed to art programs in the Rio Rancho public school district
