Alina is a first-generation American, born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. Her Chilean heritage and intimate understanding of her family’s immigration story has fueled an interest in the human condition; a common theme in her art and life.
She dissects and reflects on experience through her art making practice. Her love of emotion draws her into portraiture as the basis of her body of work.
She primarily works with oil paint and is classically trained in painting & drawing. Alina enjoys experimentation in her artistry and has experience in printmaking, ceramics, papier mache, photography, filmmaking, weaving, and more.
Alina is working on her BA in Art Education at the University of New Mexico and currently works for ArtStreet, an open studio program that seeks to make art and community accessible to people experiencing homelessness. She also works for the Harwood Art Center as a mural instructor for their Youth Mural afterschool program. For her, the act of creating is an intrinsic human need that should be made accessible in aspects of life and society.
I’d love to hear from you.
